Our Trails UP team is on the ground with Homeward Trails Danville for another much needed Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return event. This is a critical time of year as we work feverishly to prevent hundreds of kittens being born outside in conditions where it will be an uphill battle for the kittens to even see their 8 week birthday. Caregivers struggling to feed the cats they already have, they can't afford more mouths feed.
We've also encountered several cats battling terrible upper respiratory infections and the heat is only making it worse. Meet Princess (pictured above), she has a caregiver who loves her and feeds her, but Princess has gotten sick and they weren't able to catch her. Our team caught her so now she'll get the medical attention she needs.
Long Tail is another cat who desperately needed medical attention. His caregiver contacted us because Long Tail has been losing weight and covered in dirt. We helped him trap him and rushed Long Tail to the vet. As soon as we got him, we could smell the overwhelming scent of infection coming off of him. He appears to have some road rash and without being too graphic, is covered in pus. We're so thankful we could help both Long Tail and the caregiver who was worried sick over him. Now he's in the vet's hands and will get whatever care he needs.
We've met caregivers who have dogs who need to be spayed and neutered - something they desperately want, but their budgets are tight. We will help them get their dogs done. We have provided owners with flea and tick preventative, collars, harness, leashes, and food.
Caregivers are often overwhelmed and just need extra help - but they don't know where to start. We are happy to be that bridge for them when times are tough. But your support makes sure we can keep offering these services. Any amount helps!
