Left neglected for months tied up to a tree with a massive eye infection.
Hounds are the most discarded and neglected dogs in Virginia - many as a result of callous hunters who mistreat and dump them throughout the year.
Your donation will be matched 1:1 through September!
During the summer, hundreds and hundreds of Hounds in Virginia live tied up to trees and barrels contracting heartworm disease. This killer of a disease is preventable, but without adequate care, hundreds will die from it.
Hunters will neglect these sweet dogs all summer long, maybe hunt with them in the fall and dump them when it's certain they have heartworm, which is expensive to treat. The cruelty is unmatched.
Hounds fill up cages at small shelters and usually end up euthanized for space and illness.Other Hounds are dumped when they are no longer useful.
Please donate so that we can help more of these amazing dogs. Our Happy Hounds Program waives all adoption fees for Hounds so that we can save more and get more adopted - but taking them in and providing the medical care they need is incredibly expensive. We cannot do it without donations.
