Hi! My name is Ricky. This is my fourth year on Titan Robotics, and I am extremely grateful that I have been able to participate in this program for all four years of high school. I’ve been able to build up my technical and engineering skills at no cost, due to the generous donations from Spring2Action and other fundraisers. I’m currently serving as the Programming Lead of the team, and have gone from no programming experience at all to being able to program an entire robot in the Java programming language! Additionally, after serving as the primary Robot Operator for two years, I’m now serving as a lead Drive Coach at competition.

Before I joined Titan Robotics, I had no idea what I was going to do in the future. But now, I know I want to pursue engineering as a career path and solve difficult problems with technical solutions. Each year has brought forth a different themed challenge for us to build a robot around, and it’s taught me to be adaptable and to think critically, even if the challenge seems unsolvable at first.

I’ve met so many great friends through this team, and continued to meet more and more people every year. Titan Robotics inspired my love of engineering, and I want this program to continue to inspire new generations of students.

Due to a cut in government grants to STEM program funding, our program needs your support more than ever. We are currently working to send the team to the Chesapeake District Championship, where the team will cover the costs of transport, housing, food, and other expenses. If we perform well enough in this competition, we’ll be able to attend the world championship event in Houston, Texas. Your donation will go a long way in taking us to competitions and supporting our future robotics projects without any cost to students. Thank you so much for your support!
