Velocity Bicycle Cooperative

The mission of Vélocity Bicycle Cooperative is to build a more equitable, sustainable, and healthy community through cycling. Our services include:

• Refurbished used bicycles, new and used parts, and professional bike repairs for affordable prices at our nonprofit shops in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia

• DIY Open Shop hours where customers fix their own bicycles using our bike stands, tools, supplies, and the guidance of our mechanics

• Bike scholarships that provide free used bicycles, helmets, locks, and lights to disadvantaged adults for transportation and recreation

• Free used bicycles, helmets, and locks to children in challenging circumstances to give them a means of healthy play

• Volunteer opportunities for all interested local residents to receive hands-on experience repairing bicycles

• Recycling of donated bicycles for reuse in the community

• Bicycle maintenance classes

• Bicycle safety checks at youth cycling events

• Bicycle repair support for youth clubs and social rides

• Free bicycles for schools starting new cycling programs

How do we do it? Through the dedication and energy of our skilled mechanics, our board, and all our volunteers, supported by the generosity of our local community.
