What do tango and soccer have in common?  Fancy foot moves, teamwork, passionate engagement and both buildconfidence and social awareness by focusing on four of life’s most important skills:

• collaboration (dancing with a partner,  playing on a team)

• respect (for teachers, for fellow students, for self)

• flexibility (recovering from a mistake in a performance, or on the field)

• creativity (developing  a performance style of your own)

We are building Alexandria's future through the arts by teaching

• 4th -8th grade public school string students 
• adult English-as-a-second-language students, 
• female ex-offenders paroled in Alexandria
• 3rd-5th grade intersession students at Tucker ES

Our students have roots in dozens of different countries; our bilingual teaching artists are Argentine, Peruvian, Filipino, Chinese-American, and American.  Diversity is key. Everybody in, nobody out. 

OUR PROGRAMS 

All City-StringTango Orchestra: Alexandria City Public School students (ages 8-14) learn traditional tango music and work with QuinTango’s professional musicians.

Tango & Soccer:   elementary school students engage in Argentina’s two signature art forms - tango and soccer.  

Tango without Borders:   English-as-a-second-languageg students and library patrons from the West End share tango lessons and Lebanese food at Beatley Library. 

Tango & Tacos:  A pilot dance program for female ex-offenders in Alexandria. 

JUNE PERFORMANCE:  Join us on Monday, June 19 at 7 PM at George Washington Middle School Auditorium to see this year's finale concert.  Your donation helps make this free performance a reality.  

 

We wish you could see our impact on three- and four-year
olds in homeless shelters, dancing and laughing one minute AND carefully executing a tango step the next.  Or witness the eight- and nine-year olds
performing a choreography for their peers, the middle school students
conquering challenging music and receiving the highest rating at a
competition.  Or see the smiles from patients in respective
routines of being healed and healing. QuinTango’s board of directors has agreed to
match all donations made through Spring2ACTion, so whatever you can donate will
be doubled.  Any amount helps.  $20 will instantly become $40, and $100
becomes $200 of support!  



 

 

Who We Are

Last year S2A saved us. - we survived because your donations gave us the time write new music, learn to teach online, and to create new partnerships in Alexandria and abroad. Your donations kept food on our musicians’ tables while we reinvented ways to connect to our community: livestreams, zoom happy hours, a new video channel, global partnerships and local collaborations. For this we thank you. However, without the income from live performance, musicians, like restaurant workers and theater staff, are still barely scraping by. When things open up, we want to be there to celebrate with you. Help us hang on until then. Our Board has stepped up again and will MATCH EVERY DONATION UP TO $5000. We can’t do this alone – please double our rescue effort by donating now. Help us keep the music playing!
