Mount Vernon Community School PTA

Each year, Alexandria comes together for one powerful day of giving—Spring2Action—and the impact is real. Last year alone, nearly 8,000 donors raised $3.1 million for local nonprofits. It is what this community does best: show up for one another. The MVCS PTA is proud to be part of that tradition. 

This year, every dollar we raise will support our school’s amazing programs like Blessings in a Backpack (BIAB). During these uncertain times, many of our MVCS kids are experiencing an increase in food insecurity. They receive healthy meals at school during the week but need access to healthy food on Saturday and Sunday. That's where BIAB comes in. Each Friday, MVCS staff discreetly distribute bags filled with nutritious, kid-friendly snacks and meals to students in need. And while this school year is winding down, we anticipate both the cost and the need to increase next year. Your donation today helps ensure all of our kids have enough to eat in the months to come. And thanks to a generous family in our community, all donations up to $3,500 will be matched for TWICE the impact!

Your donation of any amount makes a BIG difference directly in our MVCS community.

$25 = one month of weekend food for a student

$50 = fresh fruit for all BIAB students for a month

$75 = weekend food for a student for a quarter

$100 = half a year of weekend food for a student

$200 = a FULL year of weekend food for a student

By making a donation to the PTA, you are empowering Blessings in a Backpack, and all of the wonderful MVCS programs supported by our PTA, including: scholarships for after-school programming, funding for field trips and tutoring so all students have the opportunity to grow, teacher grants so teachers don't have to buy supplies out of pocket, and grants for eyecare, dental care, and other health needs for children at MVCS.
