 OUR GOAL: $10,000

Your contribution will enable the Jefferson-Houston PTA to provide student enrichment programs that complement high-quality academics and support teachers and parents in students’ success. Your donation will support:

• After school clubs (like chess, arts and crafts with the Torpedo Factory, and STEM programs). Extend learning and group activities to students!

• Student musicals and drama program. Bring the love of arts to students!

• Band, orchestra, and choral supplies. Give all interested students access to instruments and musical instruction!

• Educational materials for Talented and Gifted (TAG) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. Expose students to wider learning opportunities!

• Library, reading, educational activities. Make reading and learning fun!

• A parent education program. Help give parents and guardians support on the parenting journey!

 

There are exciting things happening at this neighborhood school!

Jefferson-Houston Prek-8 School is Alexandria's first and only International Baccalaureate school. At Jefferson-Houston, parents, teachers, and administrators are committed to nurturing a spirit of inquiry, achievement, and respect in every student. The PTA is a proud and enthusiastic partner in this pursuit, and advocates for students, families, and teachers in many different ways. We strive to build community through various social events throughout the year.

We work to support the school's teaching staff by awarding grants to enhance classroom experiences, organizing volunteers to assist with field trips and lesson preparation, and funding school improvement and teacher professional development. We commit to enhancing the student experience by partnering with impactful organizations, sponsoring scholarships for both students and teachers, and funding and administering a successful after-school club program.

Supporting the Jefferson-Houston PTA assures that these worthy endeavors can reach as many students and teachers as possible.

This year during Spring2ACTion we are fundraising for:

Teacher Appreciation Week - $1,000 - Help us appreciate our teachers and staff for all they do during this year's teacher appreciation week.

Band and Orchestra - $3,000 - Send the award winning JH Orchestra and band to the annual “Music in the Parks” competition. Last year, the orchestra and band attended this competition for the first time in the school's history and not only did both the JH band and orchestra get 1st place in both their respective competitive groups, but they also received best overall for all bands and orchestras that competed! The students have worked hard to fundraise for this trip but still need $3,000 to ensure that everyone can attend.

Teacher Grants - $2,000 - Support teacher grants, which includes providing funds for creative learning programs and initiatives.

Jamestown Field Trip - $4,000 - The annual 4th grade Jamestown field trip is a great opportunity to reinforce the Virginia history our scholars are learning throughout the year. Help us get a jumpstart on funding next year's trip.
