Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail

You'll find the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail hosting a volunteer trail improvement event almost every Saturday. Since October of 2020, we've organized over 250 events with 5,200 volunteers providing 13,000 hours to make the trail safer and improve its natural surroundings. Volunteers remove trail bumps, pick up trash, remove graffiti, fill potholes, remove invasive vegetation and make repairs to bridges and benches.

We're raising funds this year to help install new water fountains on the trail. The current water fountains have reached their end of life experiencing frequent outages that require maintenance. The new water fountains will be frost resistant to provide year round water on the trail. They'll include water bottle fillers, two side fountains and a dog bowl fountain. The first replacement was installed last fall. We need your help to bring more new fountains to the trail this summer.
