Neighborhood Health

A nonprofit organization

Neighborhood Health's mission is to improve health and eliminate health disparities in Alexandria and Arlington and Fairfax Counties by providing access to high-quality primary care regardless of ability to pay. Child Wellness Check-Ups Come with Books for Each Child through our Reach Out & Read Program

In 2025, with your support, Neighborhood Health was able to serve 14,262 patients -- almost 7,000 of whom were uninsured -- through nearly 51,000 visits. It is only through the generosity of our neighbors -- you! -- that we are able to remain the medical home for thousands of patients in Northern Virginia. Thank you!

Each Neighborhood Health patient has a story to tell, like Sarah who sought care for her chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Sarah had recently lost her job and health insurance, leaving her unable to purchase medications or see a doctor.

During her first appointment, Sarah’s breathing was labored and it was difficult for her to walk across the hall. She had to stop every few steps to catch her breath.

Fortunately, our staff was able to get her the medications she needed through our Medication Assistance Program. Sarah’s symptoms are now under control, and she has a new job!

This year for Spring2ACTion:

  • We're fundraising to support our continued care for children and adults without insurance. We are so grateful and proud of our commitment to never turn a patient away due to lack of funds or insurance.
  • Additionally, all Spring2ACTion donations up to $10,000 will be generously matched by the Mason Hirst Foundation.  The Mason Hirst Foundation's $10,000 match will go toward the purchase of much-needed equipment: a specialized hearing screener for children, a digital scale and cart for babies, and a vaccine refrigerator.

We thank you for your generosity!

Your donation ensures high-quality primary health care for Alexandria residents who do not have health insurance.

Neighborhood Health has been providing healthcare to low-income residents in the City of Alexandria regardless of their ability to
pay for over 28 years.

Your contributions through Spring2ACTion ensure that every one of our neighbors has access to essential primary health care.

In 2024, Neighborhood Health served over 13,400
patients who live in the City of Alexandria - 37% of those patients were uninsured.

Neighborhood Health has 5 clinics in the City of Alexandria: East Glebe Road, Casey Health Center, Martha Custis Drive, Mark Center Drive, and the WOW Bus (providing dental care to children attending Alexandria City Public Schools).

Neighborhood Health is the local community health center that provides primary medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare to our
uninsured and underinsured neighbors in the City of Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax County. Last year we served over 42,700 patients. 98% of patients were low-income and 37% did not have health insurance.

No one is denied care if they are unable to pay for services.
