Did you know 3,370 children in Alexandria City, Virginia, are food insecure and at risk of going hungry? These children rely on their school's free and reduced-price meal program to provide the nourishment they need to learn and grow. But what happens when school closes its doors on Friday?

The Blessings in a Backpack program at Naomi L Brooks Elementary helps feed school-aged children who might otherwise go hungry by providing food on the weekends. To ensure the kids in our community do not go hungry by providing food over the weekend, we fill kids’ backpacks with kid-friendly, satisfying, and nutritious food on Fridays. And with your support, we are closing the weekend hunger gap for 70 food-insecure kids in Alexandria City.
