Support John Adams Elementary: Empowering Our Eager Eagles with Enriching Opportunities

At John Adams Elementary School, we are proud to educate over 700 students in the west end of Alexandria, creating a vibrant learning community where diversity, creativity, and opportunity thrive. As a Title I school with approximately 758 students and one of the most linguistically diverse populations in Alexandria City Public Schools, we celebrate a beautiful blend of cultures every day.

A School Rooted in Inclusion and Creativity
John Adams is more than just a school—it’s a place where students grow, express themselves, and discover their potential through innovative programs and partnerships:

• Dual Language (Spanish-English) Program: Students learn in both English and Spanish, becoming bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent.
• City-wide Special Education Programs: We serve students with diverse needs, ensuring personalized support and care.
• Sympatico Program with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra: Students receive free, high-quality music instruction before and after school, building confidence and a lifelong love of music.

How the John Adams PTA Makes a Difference
With recent budget cuts, the role of our PTA is more critical than ever. We are dedicated to enriching every child’s education, empowering families, and supporting our staff of over 120 educators. Thanks to community support, we have:

• Sponsored academic and social clubs, including Garden Club and Chess Club
• Organized playground cleanups and hosted community-building events like our first annual Family Dance and Dual Language Family Night
• Celebrated milestones such as 5th Grade Promotion, SOAR celebrations, and the Spelling Bee
• Supported arts education through continued investment in Sympatico
• Provided essential school supplies and meaningful teacher appreciation initiatives
• Helped fundraise for 4th grade field trips and contributed countless volunteer hours
• Advocated for the needs of our students, families, and staff

Looking Ahead: Expanding Opportunities for Every Student
This year, we aim to sustain and grow these opportunities. With your support, we can:

• Continue sponsoring field trips so students can experience Virginia Studies firsthand in Jamestown and Yorktown
• Expand Sympatico by providing more instruments and access to music education
• Offer classroom supply allowances so every teacher and every student has what they need
• Launch additional after-school and out-of-school clubs to keep students engaged, learning, and thriving
