Potomac Crescent Waldorf School

Potomac Crescent Waldorf School (PCWS) is a private, non-profit school located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. We provide a distinct curriculum that aligns with the developmental stages of childhood, ensuring that our coursework addresses the academic, emotional, and physical needs of each child. As the only accredited Waldorf school in Northern Virginia, PCWS focuses on educating the "whole child" by engaging their head, heart, and hands through a screen-free curriculum that balances academic rigor with creative expression and a deep connection to nature. 

The school serves a diverse community with programs designed for various developmental stages: 

• Early Childhood: Includes Parent-Child and Preschool classes that follow a reliable rhythm providing children with a sense of discovery, safety, and security.
• Kindergarten (ages 4-6): Builds strong academic foundations through play, storytelling, music, and twice weekly Forest School.
• Elementary Education (Grades 1 - 5): Small classes that offer an individualized approach, hands on learning, and academics that are brought to life through outdoor learning. 
• Specialized Instruction: Students participate in Spanish, Mandarin, handwork, games, and a strings violin program.
