Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre

Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been bringing quality arts education to Alexandria since it was established in 1979. Our mission is to educate and develop young artists through theatre arts. We nurture an active imagination, a sense of self-worth, and emotional intelligence through creative play. By empowering our youth, we empower our community. 

MVCCT produces three shows, two musicals and one play, annually, for children ages 8-18. MVCCT also offers eight weeks of theatrical summer camps for rising 1st graders through rising 8th graders.

Every day, MVCCT creates extraordinary stages where young people grow through creativity, collaboration, and courage. Each show ends, but the moment when something clicks stays with them—shaping how they see themselves and what they believe is possible.

If you’ve ever had a child in an MVCCT show—or if you’ve worn a costume, painted a set, taken a curtain call—you know what makes this place special. It’s the laughter at rehearsals, the nerves backstage, the moment the lights go up, and the joy of creating something memorable, together. You know how much joy and growth it gives to the kids on stage—and how much community it builds in the audience and beyond.

And beyond the curtain calls, you witnessed something even more meaningful: kids discovering confidence, finding their voice, and realizing their own power and passions they didn’t yet know they had — onstage, backstage, and in camps throughout the year.

That’s the heart of Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre.
