Who We Are?

For 15 years, At Home in Alexandria (AHA) has helped older adults age safely and independently in the homes and community they love. We believe aging should be filled with connection, dignity, and purpose. Through volunteer-driven transportation, social and educational programming, practical support, and meaningful personal connections, AHA fosters a community where older adults feel seen, valued, and supported. Together, we are reducing isolation, strengthening independence, and ensuring our neighbors can continue living where they feel most at home.

Why Give?

Alexandria’s population is aging, and more older adults want to remain in the homes they love. Staying independent takes a community. Without that support, isolation can take hold — leading to declining health, loneliness, and premature transitions away from the place they cherish.

When you give to AHA during Spring2Action, you are:

✔ Strengthening community
✔ Reducing isolation
✔ Supporting independence
✔ Showing older neighbors they matter

Be one of the Alexandrians who steps up today!

Meet Phil

Phil has been an AHA member for five years.  Last summer he had a health crisis and has since needed AHA’s transportation program to reach twice-weekly medical treatments. During long and uncomfortable appointments, volunteer drivers are a steady source of comfort and companionship.

But AHA’s support doesn’t stop at medical care. Volunteers also make it possible for him to attend Men’s Night Out dinners and chair yoga classes — moments that bring laughter, friendship, and normalcy to his week.

Because of AHA’s volunteers, he is not isolated by health challenges. He remains active, engaged, and connected to the community he calls home.

2025 Impact

In 2025, AHA delivered measurable results that directly strengthened our member community.

  • 4,552 total volunteer hours contributed

  • 1,241 member requests fulfilled for practical help and companionship, including 1,159 transportation requests completed

  • 226 social and educational events hosted

  • 96.9% annual fulfillment rate for member requests

Our 96.9% fulfillment rate reflects operational efficiency and volunteer reliability, ensuring nearly every member request received a response.

Your support powers outcomes like these — scalable, reliable, and community-driven.
