Mission

All Ages Read Together (AART) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to educating children in need with free preschool programs in their communities.

We strive to prepare and inspire children to reach their full potential with access to free early childhood education!

Why AART?

Preschool in Virginia is not guaranteed but is highly beneficial to a child’s success and wellbeing. In Northern Virginia, only 29% of low-income children are enrolled in preschool, compared to 67% in higher-income households—an alarming disparity1

With the current state of education in Virginia, our littlest learners need more support. The Nation’s Report Card for 2024 reveals that the average reading scores among 4th and 8th graders in Virginia have stagnated or dropped, respectively2. The investment in a child’s education early on can prevent our children from slipping further. Preschool provides a return of up to $13 for every dollar spent on a child’s education by preventing later academic and economic intervention3.

We need to do better by our children. We need to help them become not only better readers, but better friends, neighbors, and leaders!

What We Do

Our dedicated team of teachers and teaching assistants, along with our amazing volunteers, host multiple weekly classes in donated in-kind spaces by our community partners that are accessible to our students and their families, removing barriers to education across Loudoun and Fairfax counties and Alexandria.

The children we serve often have no other opportunities to benefit from early childhood education. Programs like Head Start serve fewer children than years past and often have long wait lines that put children at risk of missing out on that opportunity altogether4.

This is where our program comes in! Our students learn critical life skills like math, motor skills, reading, and writing, while growing their personal libraries, thanks to a curriculum centered around books that our students get to take home with them every week.

AART’s services are truly life-changing, often serving to provide students the tools they need to be successful members of their communities!
