It's a beloved and safe community space where people gather to learn and grow. Building a brighter future through a world-class library system

Donating to the Alexandria Library Foundation is easy and gives back to the Alexandria community in ways that make a difference. Founded in 1998, the Foundation provides grants to our Library to provide services, programs, and resources beyond those which are covered by tax-payers via the annual budget of the City of Alexandria (because yes, the City funds most of the Library's annual expense, but there is a funding gap filled by philanthropy and other revenue sources).

The Alexandria Library Foundation works in close collaboration with library leadership to identify how we can most effectively enhance and expand Alexandria Library's invaluable resources and impactful programs. Support from the Foundation enhances the Library's impact in our city and ensures its long-term vitality. In short, donors to the Foundation make our Library even better than it already is by ensuring it has the resources that neighbors of all ages want and need today, tomorrow, and always.
