Alexandria Tutoring Consortium

A nonprofit organization

Our Vision: Every child in Alexandria can read and succeed!

Alexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC) uses the phonics-based "Book Buddies" program, a peer-reviewed tutoring program developed at the University of Virginia’s School of Education. Students are selected for the program by their classroom teachers. ATC’s staff of professional educators coordinates all aspects of the program, including training volunteer tutors and providing them with lesson plans, books, and materials tailored to each student’s reading needs. Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with their students in once or twice weekly sessions of 30-45 minutes during the school day.

ATC has programs within every public elementary school in the City of Alexandria and is providing one-on-one reading tutoring for hundreds of students each year!

It takes approximately $1,350 per year to teach one child and we would love your help. Any donation is appreciated!
