Alexandria Choral Society

Alexandria Choral Society has been delighting audiences with high-quality choral performances since 1970. We are taking on exciting new challenges to grow our impact in Alexandria and the Washington, D.C. area.

We are also continuing our legacy of arts education outreach by featuring a local student choir as part of our Sing-Off Grant Program on our concert this May.

This year, the Alexandria Choral Society celebrates 55 years of enriching our community through the power of singing.

We are embracing the spirit of collaboration, holding concerts this season with the Alfred Street Baptist Church, NOVA Symphony, and the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Association.

ACS is creating meaning for our audiences. In March, we invited them to reflect on American ideals through Washington Women, a powerful song cycle that brings to life the words of 16 of America's most influential women.

Our current season was recognized by the Choralis Foundation's Ovation Awards as a nominee for Best 2024-25 Collaboration.

In addition to our formal concerts, we engage the community through our annual Snow Globe Series, bringing music to local retirement homes this season. We nurture the next generation of singing with our Sing-Off Grant Program which awards a local school choir with the opportunity to perform with ACS and funding to support their choral program.

To conclude our season, ACS has spearheaded the first-ever city-wide choral festival, One Voice Alexandria, bringing together eight additional Alexandria-based choirs and more than 400 singers in a celebration of harmony and community.

As we look back on 55 years, we also look ahead to the future and many more years of enriching the lives of our singers, our audience members, and the city of Alexandria.
