ACT for Alexandria supports people who care deeply about our extraordinary city by connecting donors with effective nonprofits and collaborating with nonprofits to increase resources, boost impact, and promote economic well-being for all who live and work here.

Since its founding in 2004 as Alexandria's community foundation, ACT has provided more than $33 million in grants, and helped local nonprofit organizations strengthen their ability to deliver critical services to those in need through not just grants, but also trainings, workshops and convenings.

ACT for Alexandria is the host of Spring2ACTion, Alexandria's Giving Day. For 24 hours, ACT for Alexandria helps connect donors to the locally-serving nonprofits they care about most, and encourages them to take ACTion through giving. 

Your gift doesn't support a single program, it powers an entire ecosystem of nonprofits, partnerships, and community-driven solutions working together to strengthen Alexandria's economic well-being.

 because trust is the foundation of lasting impact. 

ACT for Alexandria is the dependable manager of more than 250 charitable funds and trusted advisor to those fund holders, guiding effective local impact. Amid changing federal policies and financial uncertainty that affected local families, ACT connected concerned neighbors with the information, people, and organizations doing the work to understand how best to empower real and lasting change. 

Last year, over $3.5 million was donated by our community of givers; more than 50% of those charitable investments stayed in Alexandria.
