Our family comes from a long line of folksingers and church choirs. Beccah joined the Singers when she attended Nova Community College. She needed a choral group that offered friendship and community service. She thrived there, singing solos and harmonies. She even got to teach rec center kids how to make balloon animals
Terry took advantage of the free community singing workshops and discovered his true voice. So when Beccah went away to college, Terry thought about trying out for the Singers. He dragged me along and I'm glad he did. It may have even saved our marriage. But after 35 years it may be too soon to tell.
The Alexandria Singers are more than a chorus. Even my funny songs and our husband & wife duets have a home. And I love the service projects we undertake, like organizing singalongs at assisted living centers. Shoot, when Santa was a no-show, I found myself donning the suit and beard at the annual holiday for kids in shelters and low rent housing.
So please help fund our efforts to present the best concerts you love to attend. Contribute to our backstage activities including hiring an award-winning choral director, a concert pianist, and a choreographer and a booking manager. Your donation also will help fund the Alexandria Children’s Chorus.
Our next shows are the weekend of May 29 and 30th. Mark your calendars!
