This is Vanilla. She is 8 months old, 17 lbs, as sweet as can be and loves going for walks! She was lucky to be born in relative safety in a home in Puerto Rico, after a kind local started feeding her stray mom while pregnant.
Vanilla is lucky, because so many dogs and pups do not get the chance she has been given. Strays in Puerto Rico are faced with DAILY perils and are at risk of getting hit by cars, diseases such as distemper and parvo, and being poisoned or attacked by those who see stray animals as a nuisance.
Our partners in Puerto Rico are facing the same struggles we are with increasing costs and decreased adoptions but face extra hurdles such as expensive, limited flights that could move these animals to areas with a larger pool of adopters. Despite these challenges, they continue to answer the calls from their local community begging for help with stray and unwanted dogs. We want to support these partners so they can continue this vital work, but we need your help!
We have a flight volunteer who is ready to help us transport Vanilla to Homeward Trails THIS WEEK but we desperately need your help to cover the cost of her flight and care while we work on getting into her forever home. We KNOW our adopters will fall in love with this pint sized pup, but we need to get her here for that to happen. Please, help us get Vanilla out of PR so that her local rescue can fill her spot with one of the MANY dogs who urgently need their help.
