Support Patrick Henry K–8: Building a Joyful and Inclusive School Community

Patrick Henry K–8 School is in a year of exciting growth and transition. As we continue to evolve, the Patrick Henry PTA is raising funds to support key initiatives that directly benefit our students and teachers—from books and classroom supplies to student events and teacher appreciation efforts.

Our goal is to create a more joyful, inclusive, and well-resourced environment for every child and educator in our school community.

Located on the West End of Alexandria, Patrick Henry is a proud Title I school, where the majority of students receive free or reduced-price meals. Our vibrant and diverse school family includes over 1,000 students representing more than six languages and many cultures. We are proud of our multicultural identity and work hard to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated.

This year, your support will help fund the Patrick Henry K-8 Music program:

"At this time, our most immediate needs are 2 tubas and 1 double bass. These instruments are essential for providing a balanced ensemble sound and ensuring that all students have access to the appropriate equipment for instruction and performance. Currently, limited availability in these areas makes it challenging to fully support student growth and ensemble development. "

Music listening and education significantly benefit students by enhancing cognitive development, improving academic performance, and supporting mental well-being. Active engagement in music builds skills like discipline and emotional regulation, while listening can improve focus and reduce stress. Music education promotes higher graduation rates and social-emotional growth. 

The Patrick Henry PTA is deeply committed to equity and access. We work to ensure every student and family can participate in school events, regardless of financial circumstances. Your contribution—large or small—helps make this possible.

Who We Are

Patrick Henry K–8 School is a Title I school located in the West End of the city of Alexandria, seven miles from the nation’s capital. The school sits on a fifteen-acre site in a valley that was once woodlands and opened in September 1953. In 1995, eight additional classrooms were added. The Alexandria Recreation Department operates an after-school program in facilities adjoining the school.

Patrick Henry is a highly diverse school representing many cultures and languages, and we are proud of our diversity.

Our organization represents the Patrick Henry PTA. We work together to support our students and families, build a strong community, assist families in need, embrace diversity and culture, and promote student success.
